The Bear is inspired by Chekhov’s one act of the same title; Afterplay brings together characters from two different Chekhov plays - Sonya Serebriakova from Uncle Vanya and Andrey Prozorov from Three Sisters.  The production is part of a campus-wide celebration of Irish history and culture, led by Notre Dame’s Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies, that coincides with the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising.

Sign up sheets and scripts will be available in the FTT Department Office (230 DeBartolo Performing Arts Center) by Wednesday, December 2.

All majors welcome.  Auditions are not restricted to FTT majors; open to all ND/SMC/HCC students, faculty, and staff.  First Year students are welcome and encouraged to audition.

Actors of all races and ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition.  FTT is committed to multi-ethnic and multi-racial casting and to providing artistic opportunities for students of color.

Special notes:

It will be possible for actors cast in The Bear and Afterplay to audition for Pride and Prejudice (performances Apr. 13-17, auditions Jan. 13-15).

If you are currently studying abroad but will be on campus next semester and would like to audition, please email theatre@nd.edu to inquire about the possibility of a video audition.
