Alex Joyce's play, La Victoria, begins in 2017 in New York City on the set of an Off-Broadway production. Victoria is a Tony Award-winning playwright, yet she grew up in the slums of Santiago, Chile, during a brutal military dictatorship. Shifting between present and past, Victoria demonstrates to her daughter, Alejandra, how she survived a tumultuous and tragic series of events that led to her exile to the United States. This staged reading is part of a senior thesis project in the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre.
