Professor of the Practice (Special Professional Faculty)
Fall 2010
The University of Notre Dame invites applications for a Professor of the Practice in Scene Design, beginning in the fall of 2010.
Responsibilities include designing scenery for three departmental productions each year and teaching two three-credit courses each semester, some of which may be in university liberal arts service courses. The faculty member also will pursue an active program of creative work in external venues and/or research leading to scholarly publication at a level that will lead to renewal.
The successful candidate must hold a terminal degree (M.F.A. or Ph. D.) or the equivalent in professional achievement. Members of the Special Professional Faculty of Notre Dame are regular faculty. They are professionals who make a direct and significant academic contribution to the educational process through teaching, research or administration. The rank (Assistant, Associate SPF) will be appropriate to the faculty member’s qualifications. Contracts vary from one to three years and are renewable. More

The Department of Film, Television, and Theatre is a vibrant interdisciplinary department with eighteen regular faculty and about two hundred majors. The department is housed in the Marie P. DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, dedicated in 2004, where the Department produces its Theatre Season in the Patricia Decio Theatre and the Regis Philbin Studio Theatre (see http://performingarts.nd.edu/).
