20th Century Fox Executive On Campus September 7-8
The first FTT Talks of the 2006-2007 academic year is Jim Sharp, Executive Vice President of Production, 20th Century Fox Television on September 7th and 8th. He has overseen the day-to-day operations at 20th Century Fox Television since 1998, contributing to unparalleled success in developing new shows and maintaining hit series. Recognized as a creative haven to some of the most talented writers and producers working in television today, 20th Century Fox Television is home to such significant creators as David E. Kelley, Shawn Ryan, Joel Surnow and Seth McFarlane, and the studio has produced such popular and critically acclaimed shows as 24, PRISON BREAK, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, FAMILY GUY, THE SIMPSONS, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, BOSTON LEGAL, and MY NAME IS EARL. Mr. Sharp also helped to launch Fox Mobile Entertainment, a new unit that creates and distributes unique content to the world wireless market, such as the recent successful series of “mobisodes” entitled 24: CONSPIRACY.
Mr. Sharp joined the Fox Company in 1998, following over 20 years working in various industry job capacities such as, but not limited to, production assistant, extra, teamster, production supervisor, DGA Unit Production Manager, and line producer. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Directors Guild Producer Training Program. He graduated from California State University of Northridge, earned a B.S. degree and Secondary School Teaching Credential.

In his lecture, Mr. Sharp will survey the current state of TV and discuss how producers are dealing with the rapid technological changes and challenging audience demands that define the television business today. The talk is free and open to all.

In this informal workshop, Mr. Sharp will meet with students interested in working in film and television. He will offer advice and take questions about how to gain employment and move up the ladder in the mainstream media industries. The workshop is open to all interested students. Beverages and muffins will be provided.
