Join performance artist Brendan Fernandes as he discusses how dance and technology intersect throughout his practice. Covering topics from surveillance capital to social connection in a time of social distancing, this talk will focus on Fernandes’ own works “The Left Space” (2020), “Art By Snapchat” (2017–2020), “I’m Down” (2017), and “Call and Response” (2019), among others. Fernandes will explore the new social extensions of technology in terms of his own practice—characteristically interrogating the notion of authenticity, pursuing freedom through movement and collaboration, and recentering the experiences and perspectives of marginalized communities.
