Because Gender Film Series

Our film series aims to promote and honor recent and historical films centered on gender and/or sexuality, as well as to bring more attention to filmmakers who actively intervene in the traditional identity politics of film production, especially women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Each film screening is followed by a discussion hosted by faculty from the tri-campus community.

Because gender is co-presented by Notre Dame’s Gender Studies Program and Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, as well as the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at Saint Mary’s College and the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at Indiana University-South Bend.

To suggest a film screening, please contact Prof. Mary Celeste Kearney or Prof. Olivier Morel.
